Troon sea front

Why Troon ?

For years Ayrshire CTC, or Cycle Ayrshire as it is now known, has had a soft spot for Troon as a place to feature on cycle rides and events.

The first reason is obvious – it’s flat. But there’s a lot more to it than that.

On a National Cycle route, it offers opportunities for children, beginners and families to enjoy a car-free ride, an easy to follow signed route for touring cyclists and, as a starting point for day-rides, quick access north and south as well as convenient crossing points east avoiding the by-pass.

It’s also the right size for using a bike for about–town travel.

That’s what encouraged Cycle Ayrshire to run its Cycling Festivals in the town.

This year we have a more ambitious programme for all ages and distances – so get the bike out the shed today and tune yourself up to join the Festival buzz !

Cycle Ayrshire isn’t just about organising cycle rides.

As part of Cycling UK, we share their vision of a healthier, happier and cleaner world, because more people cycle.

We want people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to be able to cycle safely, easily and enjoyably.

Cycling UK champions the cause of cycling, promoting all forms of cycling, protecting the interests of existing and would-be cyclists, and inspiring people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to discover the joys of cycling.

It’s an independent, expert organisation, whose activities reflect the commitment of its members, volunteers and partners to make cycling mainstream, making a lasting difference to the lives of individuals and communities.

Cycle Ayrshire are the main organisers of the Festival but could not have provided such a wide range of activities without the support of several event partners.

Welcome to the Festival

The 3rd Ayrshire Cycling Festival is brought to you by Cycle Ayrshire (formerly Ayrshire CTC).

We are part of Cycling UK, the national cycling body which has worked for cyclists for over a hundred years.

This year the programme has grown thanks to Ayr Burners, Ayr Active Travel Hub, Kilmarnock Cycle Station and other supporters of Ayrshire cycling.
